History
Mandurah Mobility was established in 1994 as a side line to an existing engineering business – Bradshaw Engineering. The main product was an early model of mobility scooter called the Linshaw Powerchair. The Linshaw Powerchair was manufactured by Mandurah Mobility in their engineering workshop in Milgar Street, Mandurah. There are still a few Linshaw Powerchairs operating, including one in Mandurah Mobility’s gopher museum. Related products such as walking aids, bathroom equipment, etc. were added to the product range over time. These products were bought in from other manufacturers and distributors rather than manufactured by Mandurah Mobility. Over time, the Linshaw Powerchair was replaced by imported products – mainly the Shoprider and Pride mobility scooters.
The business has been sold a number of times since it is was established in 1994. Most owners have had the business for about 3 years. The current owners have had the business since July 2005 and intend to own it for many years to come.
Mandurah Mobility moved to its current address at 45 Reserve Drive in mid-2002. The very large showroom and workshop cover an area of around 400 square metres – this allows many products to be on display at all times. Also, products can be tested, no matter what the weather.
The business now has a number of strategic suppliers in place for major product lines including Shoprider Australia, Hills Healthcare (including K.Care, Kerry Equipment and Air Comfort), Glide Rehabilitation Products, Acorn Stairlifts, Exide batteries (including Sonnenschein batteries), Ibis Furniture. In addition, the workshop is also an authorised repair centre for Pride, CTM, Invacare, Electro Ride, Parmaker, Atama Furniture and more. |
